Spiced Bourbon & Amberwood Fragrance Oil Review

We asked our fragrance oil manufacturer to send us samples of oils that were popular in other parts of the world but were not currently available in to the UK. One of these samples they sent us was spiced bourbon & amberwood. This is popular in Australia and we can see why. We tested this summer 2023 and it arrived in October. It took a while for people to discover this but it is selling well as a spring / summer fragrance.
Here are the fragrance notes:
Top notes of bergamot, lemongrass, orange zest and red berry followed by mid notes of spiced bourbon, jasmin and cinnamon, rounded off with base notes of amberwood, oakmoss, tonka, vanilla and musk.
Once the wax starts to melt there is a real freshness, not as light and zesty as the top notes of bergamot, lemongrass and orange zest lead us to believe. It’s a bit like a fresh outdoors meets aftershave scent without the alcohol notes. This is a really well blended fragrance oil, its difficult to pick out any notes on their own. The red berries and bourbon add depth and complexity as there are no distinct fruity or bourbon / whisky notes, this is much lighter than the fragrance name would suggest to us. There is a hint of spice but its not overly spicy so don’t be afraid to try if spice is not your thing. The base notes of amberwood, oakmoss and musk are balanced nicely with the vanilla & tonka to give a hint of sweet with the musky, slightly earthy, mossy notes.
This fragrance is a good strength and carries a long way through the house. It is much lighter than our dark rum tabac and much fresher, less aftershave than our bay rum
