Silver Birch & Balsam Fragrance Oil Review
Posted by andrew sanderson on
We are continually testing new fragrance oils which we compare to our current stock and wish list. We tested several fragrance oils in spring this year and rejected over half of them. Silver Birch and Balsam was one of the fragrance oil we loved so we included this in our next order which arrived in June. We are the only fragrance oil supplier in the UK to stock this fragrance oil.
Here are the fragrance notes:
Top notes of crisp apple, alpine eucalyptus and falling snow accord followed by mid notes of iceberg rose, silver birch and cinnamon, rounded off with base notes of balsam, sandalwood, oakmoss and crystal musk.
We make this up and melted the same size piece as usual. The fragrance notes led us to think this would be a winter fragrance with a cool feel like snowman or frosted pinecone but it isn’t like either of these fragrances. The fresh eucalyptus notes are gorgeous but we can’t pick out the apple fragrance notes, the rose or anything would give the fragrance a cold feeling. The mid and base notes are woody, fresh and musky with the dominant notes coming from the balsam. Balsam is a strong, fresh camphorous resin fragrance which comes from crushing pine needles and branches. We couldn’t detect any cinnamon notes so don’t be worried about trying this if you are not a spice lover. The stars of this fragrance are the eucalyptus and the balsam. This smells like a very natural fragrance it smells nothing like cheap cleaning products. This isn’t surprising as it does contain some natural pine needle oil and natural eucalyptus oil. This is very different to our version of Christmas tree and frosted pinecone; different enough to have all three fragrances. This fragrance oil, although it has a similar name, is nothing like black birch and cedar which is more like a male fragrance.
If you are looking for a nice eucalyptus & pine scent then this is for you. It’s a year round fresh fragrance and not just for winter and Christmas. It is ideal for bathrooms and great for a room spray if you need a spritz of freshness.
