Spiced Berries Fragrance Oil Review

Posted by andrew sanderson on

This was one of the fragrance oils that we received to test when we asked for herbal / botanical fragrance oils. This fragrance oil is rich red berries and spice. Some people think of spicy fragrance oils being just for winter but this is light and fruity so we think its suitable for year round use. Think of a spiced berry smoothie or spicy stewed fruit. Here are the fragrance notes:

Top notes of apple, lemon zest, grapefruit, mandarin, red berries, blue leaf eucalyptus and chilled mint leaves followed by mid notes of jasmine, almond blossoms, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove bud, rounded off with base notes of raspberry, wood twigs, tonka, amber and musk

We added 8g of oil to 100g soy wax then melted a 7.5g wax melt in a large open plan house. It soon filled the ground floor and first floor with a good strength scent then worked its way up the staircase to the second floor. This is one very powerful fragrance but its not overpowering. You can identify the different layers of fragrance that make up this scent. We lit this early evening and let it burn for one tealight. The fragrance was still strong around the house the following morning.

As this fragrance starts to melt its fresh and fruity. The freshness of the apple, lemon zest, grapefruit, mandarin and red berries is balanced by a different kind of freshness coming from the eucalyptus oil and the mint. As the melt continues to warm the mid notes come off and the fragrance changes a little. We can’t pick out the floral notes but there is no mistaking the spice notes. The cinnamon, nutmeg and clove make this fragrance oil a spice lovers dream! The base notes give more depth to the already gorgeous red berry fragrance. The raspberry is rich and fruity, the wood notes, tonka, amber and musk round this fragrance off nicely giving it more complexity, making it very rich and robust.

This fragrance oil is suitable for making room sprays according to IRFA 50.  See the IFRA document on the fragrance oil listing for other uses.
