Water Lily & Rose Fragrance Oil Review

Posted by andrew sanderson on

Floral fragrances are not our usual ‘go to’ fragrances and we realised that we needed to add more floral fragrance oils to our current stock. We wanted something not already available in the UK so we tested a few and just had to have this one. Here are the fragrance notes:

Top notes of water lily, white rose and jasmine followed by mid notes of osmanthus, cyclamen and Texas rose, rounded off with base notes of musk, vetiver and cedar

We added 8g of lily & rose fragrance oil to 100g Golden wax soy 494 then melted a 7.5g piece of the wax melt in an open plan room. As soon as this fragrance starts to melt there is a gorgeous floral aroma with the rose being a distinct note that we could identify. This is totally different to rose quartz which we already stock and different to another new fragrance oil - cactus blossom which contains rose fragrance notes which we tested in the same batch of samples. The other floral notes in this fragrance oil combine to create a lovely fresh floral blend, strong but not overpowering. This is a really well blended fragrance, it is not harsh the fragrance carries very well. The base notes of musk, vetiver and cedar are supporting and give body and longevity but are not prominent. If woody fragrances are not your thing, don’t worry, this is definitely a floral fragrance. Its very modern and fresh but strong at the same time.

Our ground floor is open plan to another room plus the hall, stairs and landing. Shortly after lighting this I went up to the second floor and got distracted. After a short while I started to smell the melt and wondered if I was picking up the smell of the wax melt from my hands, I hadn’t washed them after breaking the wax melt sample to put it in the burner. There is a single door and a small staircase from the first floor to the second floor. I went to the top of the stairs on the second floor and was amazed how strong the scent was. I went downstairs to the first floor and the landing was full of scent. I then went down to the ground floor and the fragrance in the lounge was lovely and strong but not overpowering. This is a fragrance oil that has very good throw but doesn't punch you in the face (see our blog on strong scents). I was surprised how far the fragrance had travelled in such a short space of time from such a tiny piece of wax. If you like fresh floral fragrances you should give this fragrance oil a try.
